Updating Your Business Profile on Google Search & Maps

Updated: Dec 4, 2023

Have you Googled your business lately? It’s important to check your business profile and make sure it’s up to date with things like holiday hours, new service offerings, and any changes in your business description or operations.

And if your business is listed on Google, you’ve probably been using the Google My Business app to keep it updated.

Unfortunately, in July 2022, this app was phased out.

The good news is, you can still easily manage your business profile from your mobile phone using the Google Maps app!

Now, instead of going to the Google My Business app, you’ll open the Google Maps app or use the Google Search website from your mobile browser.

When you’re on a desktop or laptop, you can still update your profile through the Google Search website.

In this post, I’ll share how to use these two different methods to manage your Google Business Profile.

(If you’re not sure what I’m referring to, or you haven’t yet verified your business profile with Google, here’s how you can do it.)

Using the Google Maps App

The easiest way to update or access your Google Business Profile on a mobile device is through the Google Maps app.

When you open the app, click on the circle in the top right of your screen showing your Google Profile (usually your photo or initials) and make sure you’re logged into the Google account that manages your business profile.

Next, click on “Your Business Profile” and select “View Profile” or the name of the profile you want to view. Once you’re in your profile, select the “Edit profile” button and you’ll be able to update your general business information, add services, adjust your hours, manage reviews, and more.

Using the Google Search Website

The other way to update your business profile is through the Google Chrome app or Google Search website on your mobile or desktop browser.

You’ll want to make sure you’re logged into the Google account that manages your business profile before searching for your business. Then, do a Google search using your business name and city, or by putting quotations around your business name.

For instance, I would search for “Design and Streamline Solutions San Diego” or “Design and Streamline Solutions”.

At the top of the search results, you should see your business profile listed and the “Edit profile” button. Click on it and you’ll have options to update your general business information, add services, adjust your hours, manage reviews, and more.
